Our network has a wide range of experts in forestry and bio-economy development. We actively network and closely cooperate with Finnish and international private companies, development organizations, research institutes and universities.

Jörn Laxén

Close to 30 years of experience as consultant, planner, researcher and trainer with numerous international and national financing institutions and private sector in Asia, Africa and Northern/Eastern Europe with focus on especially the following main themes:
  • Forest-based primary production bio-economy
  • Sustainable forest management (e.g. reforestation, silviculture and forest management etc.)
  • Environmental valuation and assessment
  • Carbon calculations and REDD+ financial analyses
  • Socio-economic surveys
  • Landscape and watershed management & planning
  • Tropical and Nordic private small scale forestry
  • Tropical energy wood plantations
  • Project planning, management, budgeting and tendering
  • Languages: Swedish, English, Finnish, and some German and Spanish


Mohamed ElFadl

PhD (For.)

Senior expert with over 30 year experience broadly from tropical forest issues and forest educational planning, curriculum development and modern teaching methods, in theory as well as in practice, nationally as well as internationally. Dr. ElFadl is a Sudanese national, but based in Finland since 1991 with frequent missions in mainly Eastern Africa and Mekong Region of Asia. Donor experience include both Finnish and international financing institutions. His main technical expertise covers the following main themes:

  • Sustainable forest management over the whole chain from nurseries to timber harvesting
  • Forest-based primary production bio-economy
  • Tropical silviculture and tree ecophysiology
  • Agroforestry systems and practices
